Mike Riedmann
Mike Riedmann attended Wayne State from 1971-76 and participated in wrestling and football. Mike came to Wayne State never having played football before. He wanted to try it out and was assigned as a linebacker. As his seasons at WSC drew to a close, Mike was voted NAIA All-District and All-Conference in 1975.
Riedmann is best known for his ability as a wrestler in the 190 pound class. In 1976, the Wildcat squad won both the conference and district tournaments and set a record for the most dual wins in one season, including two shutouts and a win over the University of Nebraska-0maha. Mike tied the record for most wins in a single season and was second in the national tournament. In 1975 and 1976 he was the captain of the wrestling squad. In 1976, in addtion to the football honors, he was an NAIA All-America honorable mention and the most valuable wrestler at Wayne State. He co-owns the school wrestling records for most wins in a season.
Riedmann gained additional national recognition as a member of the AAU-NAIA All-Star wrestling squad which toured Japan and Korea during the summer of 1976. Mike graduated from Wayne State in 1976. He currently serves as president of NP Dodge Residential Sales Division in Omaha.
Riedmann was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame October 11, 1980.

Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.
Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.
The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.
The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.
Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
