LeRoy Simpson
LeRoy Simpson was a coach at Wayne State from 1968-1997. He started the women's track program at WSC and coached track and field, cross country and was assistant football coach for three years. He was also a professor in the Human Performance and Leisure Studies Division at WSC. In his nearly 30-year tenure, Simpson had three All-Americans in men's track and 11 All-Americans in women's track and won one cross country conference championship.
LeRoy and his wife Marian could always be found helping out at many track and field events. LeRoy was the honorary referee for the 1997 Sioux City Relays. LeRoy retired from WSC in 1997 and now resides in Woodland Park, Colorado.
Simpson was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame October 17, 2001.

Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.
Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.
The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.
The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.
Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
