Kelley (Peterson) Snyder
Kelley (Peterson) Snyder was the first female athlete at Wayne State College to earn All-American honors. She was a six-time All-American in track and field during her career at Wayne State College from 1981-1984. Kelley Peterson finished sixth place in the 60-yard hurdles (8.63 seconds) at the NAIA Indoor Nationals in 1982 to become the first-ever female All-American athlete at Wayne State. She finished third in the 100-meter hurdles (14.54) at the 1982 NAIA Outdoor Championships to also capture All-American honors.
In 1983, Peterson earned All-American honors in two events, placing fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (14.8) and was one of four runners on the 400-meter relay team that placed sixth in 49.01 seconds. She was also selected an Academic All-American in 1983.
Kelley Peterson Snyder closed out her brilliant track career with two All-American finishes at the 1984 NAIA Outdoor Championships, placing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and running a leg on the fourth place 800-meter medley relay team. She still holds the school records for the 55-meter hurdles (indoors) at 8.23 seconds, set in 1982, and has the 100-meter hurdle record for outdoor track, set in 1984 at 14.10 seconds. Her name also appears on the school record for the 400 meter relay in outdoor track set in 1982.
Peterson Snyder was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame in the fall of 1989.

Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.
Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.
The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.
The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.
Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
