Dan Gardner
Dan Gardner was one of the prime moving forces in the Second Guessers organization. A graduate of Syracuse Unviersity, Dan was a longtime Wayne State Foundation trustee. The former president and benefactor was tireless in his efforts to promote and further the programs and outreach of the college foundation, community and region.
Dan and his wife Jeanne were an integral part of the success of WSC's first national capital campaign "Building Bright Futures," by providing a $1.5 million leadership gift. In appreciation of the Gardners' generous support of Wayne State College, the Daniel W. and Jeanne M. Gardner Business Building on campus was named in their honor.
Those who knew Dan never doubted that one of his passions was athletics and his generosity was evident in the Gardner Foundation's endowed scholarship program for athletic scholarships at Wayne State College. Dan passed away on January 19, 2001.
Dan Garnder was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame February 3, 1979.

Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.
Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.
The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.
The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.
Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
