Brad Ottis
Brad Ottis was arguably the most dominating defensive football player to wear a Wayne State uniform. The Fremont Bergan graduate racked up some amazing numbers during his stellar football career at Wayne State from 1990-1993. Ottis helped the 1993 team to a 9-1 record and was named to several All-American teams that year. He also was chosen to play in the Blue-Gray All-Star Football Classic on Christmas Day and played in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama in January, 1994. During his sophomore season (1991), Ottis had 40 tackles and nine quarterback sacks for minus 75 yards. In 1992, Ottis had 17 quarterback sacks for minus 132 yards and 57 tackles. Despite being double-teamed in his senior season, Ottis finished with 82 tackles and 14 quarterback sacks for minus 124 yards to go with 27 tackles for loss totalling 173 yards. Ottis was captain of the 1993 Omaha World All-Nebraska NCAA Division II Football Team on defense.
His stellar numbers drew the attention of many NFL scouts and Ottis was drafted in the second round of the 1994 National Football League draft by the Los Angeles Rams. He played several years for the Rams before signing a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals, where he played for several more years. Following his NFL career, he played several years of indoor football with the Sioux City Bandits.
Ottis graduated from WSC in 1994 and was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame October 17, 2001.
