WSC Athletics Hall of Fame
Rod Tietsort
Rod Tietsort attended Wayne State from 1957-61 and played football all four years. During the 1958 season, he caught 9 passes for 130 yeards and kept improving. In 1959, he caught 18 passes for 246 yards, and in 1960 led the Wildcats in receiving. Rod was named football MVP by his teammates in 1958, 1959 and 1960, and was an Associated Press "Little All-American" honorable mention in 1960. Rod also played baseball for Wayne State in 1959 and 1960.
Since leaving Wayne State, Rod has attended the University of Northern Colorado and Colorado University for post-graduate study. At the time of his induction, Rod was teaching and coaching at the high school level at Jefferson County Public Schools in the Denver metro area.
Tietsort was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame October 11, 1980.

Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.
Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.
The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.
The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.
Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
