Bob Schnitzler is a 1961 graduate of Wayne State College. He is currently coaching boys basketball at Lindsay Holy Family High School after enjoying a successful career as teacher and coach of football, track and girls basketball at Battle Creek High School.

Bob is a native of Humphrey and graduated from Humphrey High School. He attended WSC from 1957-61 and earned a bachelor's degree in physical education with an industrial arts minor.

He played football and baseball at WSC, and participated in track his first year (baseball was not offered at WSC during his freshman year). He earned four football letters, two baseball letters, and one track letter.

Bob was captain of the 1960 football team of Coach Gwynn Christensen that posted a 4-5-0 record. He played both the halfback and fullback positions and returned kicks.

His Battle Creek track teams won the last two Class C state titles [1981 and 1982], his 1981 football squad was the Class C-1 state champion, and his 1979 girl's basketball team was the Class C runner-up. He was on the North staff of the 1982 Shrine Bowl football game.

Going into the 1982 season, his football coaching record was 140-42-5 and his girl's basketball record was 128-25. He was named the 1981 "Coach of the Year" by both the Omaha World-Herald and the Nebraska Coaches Association.

Two of Schnitzler's daughters, Linda and Mary, were standout basketball players at Wayne State College. Linda Schnitzler Walker is also a member of the WSC Athletic Hall of Fame, inducted in 2000.
