Charles Hafley is a new member to the Wildcat coaching staff
as a graduate assistant coach at Wayne State College, helping
coach the defensive backs. Hafley comes to WSC after serving
two seasons (2005 and 2006) as head coach at Fort Lauderdale
High School in Florida. He also served as defensive coordinator
at Coral Gables HS in 2004 and was the offensive coordinator
at Pompano Beach High School in Florida in the 2003 season.
Hafley, a graduate of Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Florida,
was a standout safety at Clemson University from 1998-2001,
earning Second Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as
a senior. He was the third leading tackler in his junior and
senior seasons with the Tigers and in 2000 became just the
third Clemson defensive back to record a 100 tackle season
(106). He followed that up in his senior season with 128 tackles
and a team-high four interceptions. Had career-high 14 tackles
for Clemson in 2000 Gator Bowl against Virginia Tech. Following
his career at Clemson, Hafley spent the 2002 season on the
practice squad of the New York Giants and played in the Arena
Football League in 2003 with the Indiana Firebirds and San
Jose Sabercats before starting his coaching career.
Hafley earned a sociology degree from Clemson University
in August , 2001 and is working toward a masters degree at
Wayne State College.
