2006: Was the leading tackler for the Wildcats, earning NSIC honorable mention honors at outside linebacker......In 11 starts, recorded 100 tackles (47 solo, 53 assisted) with nine tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, five pass breakups and one forced fumble....named Nebraska NCAA Division II Defensive Player of the Week on 11-6-06 after making 10 tackles and helping the WSC defense force five turnovers in 14-9 win over Missouri-Rolla....had season-high 14 tackles in two games, vs. Nebraska-Kearney on 9-9-06 and vs. Concordia-St. Paul on 10-28-06. Named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VII College Division Second Team and selected to the NSIC Fall All-Academic Team with 3.81 GPA in elementary education.

2005: Started all 11 games at linebacker as a freshman...Led the team and was sixth in the conference in total tackles and was tied for second on the team with three interceptions...Had three solo tackles and 10 assisted tackles with one interception in his first collegiate game against St. Cloud State on 8-27-05. Ranked sixth in the NSIC in tackles per game (6.1)

2004: Sat out season as a redshirt.

High School: Earned All-State honors as a junior and senior at Wakefield High School...Received All-District honors all four seasons and was an Academic All-State selection two seasons...Had 520 tackles during career at Wakefield High School...Made 33 tackles in one game.

Personal: Son of Terry and Bonnie Hoffman... Born on September 13, 1985...Major is undecided.

Wayne State has earned the #3 seed for the NCAA Div. II Central Regional Baseball Tournament hosted by Emporia State in Kansas. The 40-11 Wildcats meet #4 seed Central Missouri (41-15) in Thursday's first round with game times to be announced Monday afternoon.


Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.


Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.


The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.


The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.


Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.


Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
