2006: Played in eight games as the
'Cats punter. . . Punted the ball 30 times for an average
of 33.7. . . Also had 10 kickoffs for an average of
60.9 including one touchback. . . Had a season-high
seven punts including a 58 yard punt against Chadron
State on 9-16-06.
2005: Selected All-NSIC honorable
mention punter as a freshman after averaging 37.6 yards
per punt, ranking fourth overall and fourth in NSIC
games....had career-long punt of 78 yards vs. Neb.-Kearney
on 9-3-05 and finished with 20 kicks inside the 20-yard
line and just 3 touchbacks. Seven punts were over 50
yards.
High School: Kurtis starred in four
sports at Hinton Community HS, starting three years
in football, wrestling and baseball and four years in
track and field....was an All-State kicker, averaging
54.5 yards on kickoffs and 44.2 yards on punts and received
All-District honors three years for play at linebacker...Averaged
101 yards per game rushing....was state runnerup in
discus and All-Conference catcher in baseball for three
seasons....kicked 51-yard field goal in high school
and holds eight school records in football.
