Brian Disch Position/Hitting Coach

Brian Disch is in his third season as the position and hitting coach for the Wayne State baseball program. He also serves as the team's third base coach. Disch is also in his second year as assistant sports information director in the sports information office at WSC.
Disch is no stranger to the Wildcat baseball program, having played under Coach John Manganaro from 1999-2004. He earned First Team All-Northern Sun Conference honors as a senior in 2004, hitting .301 for the season with 11 home runs and 38 RBI's. He was also selected the Most Valuable Player in the 2004 NSIC Tournament, helping WSC win a second straight NSIC championship. He was a member of the 2001 and 2004 Central Region teams at WSC.
Besides excelling on the field, Disch also achieved success in the classroom. He was named the 2002-03 Male Scholar Athlete at Wayne State College and was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team three times during his WSC career. Disch has also helped coach Legion baseball in Norfolk during the summer. In 2006, he coached the Norfolk Elkhorn Valley Bank Junior Legion team.
Disch, a native of Norfolk, Neb., is currently pursuing a master's degree in math education at Wayne State College. Brian and his wife Lisa reside in Norfolk.

Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.
Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.
The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.
The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.
Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
