Big, sidearm pitcher who continues to improve and will help the 'Cats out of the bullpen this spring.

2007: Sake had stellar sophomore campaign with WSC, recording 1-0 record in 16 appearances with team-low 2.25 ERA...pitched complete-game three hit shutout with eight strikeouts on 4-2-07 in 9-0 win over Minnesota, Crookston in lone start of the season...opponents hit just .236 against Sake. Named to the NSIC Spring All-Academic Team.

2006: Appeared in four games as a reliever, going 0-0 with a 7.20 ERA....pitched perfect ninth inning with one strikeout to help shutout Neb.-Kearney 15-0 on 4-4-06.....worked five innings, allowing 10 hits, five runs (four earned) with six strikeouts and no walks.

2005: Sat out season as a redshirt.

High School: Attended Valley HS and lettered in baseball, basketball and football.

Personal: Son of Jim and Susan Sake. . . Hobbies include hunting and fishing. . . Majoring in Physical Education.

WSC was picked to finish third in the South Division and seventh overall in the 2008 NSIC Preseason Football Coaches Poll released on Monday, August 4th during NSIC Media Day in Mankato, Minnesota. Wildcat junior quarterback Silas Fluellen was selected by coaches as the South Division Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.


The Wayne State at Nebraska-Kearney season opening football game will kickoff at noon on Saturday, August 30th at Ron and Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field in Kearney. Some earlier website schedules had the game listed for a 6:00 p.m. start.


Former WSC pitcher Nick Schumacher was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 28th round Friday afternoon in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft. The Nebraska City native was the 855th overall pick and it marks the second straight year a WSC pitcher was taken in the MLB Draft.
