2007: Named First Team All-NSIC Desginated Hitter and also named to the 2007 NSIC All-Tournament Team. Appeared in 41 games with 40 starts hitting .321 with four home runs and 43 RBI...ended the season with a nine-game hit streak...had 13 doubles and 29 runs scored in 137 at bats...had two 3-hit games, going 3 for 4 vs. Missouri Western on 2-27-07 and vs. Southwest Minnesota State on 4-12-07...hit go ahead two-run homer in sixth inning at Bemidji State in 5-4 win on 4-29-07.

2006: Hit .338 with 46 hits iin 136 at bats, playing in 42 games with 40 starts....had 14 doubles, two doubles and 28 RBI's....had 14 multi-hit and six multi-RBI games.....went 2 for 4 with five RBI's vs. Southwest Minnesota State on 3-26-06 and was 3 for 6 with three runs and four RBI's vs. Augustana on 4-5-06.

High School: Attended Millard South HS where he helped his team win a district championship. . . All-Conference, Second Team All-Metro and All-State honorable mention as a senior.

Personal: Son of Randy and Rae Ellen Koch. . . hobbies include basketball and playing poker. . . major is undeclared.

Former WSC pitcher Nick Schumacher was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 28th round Friday afternoon in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft. The Nebraska City native was the 855th overall pick and it marks the second straight year a WSC pitcher was taken in the MLB Draft.


The WSC baseball team was ranked 24th in the final NCAA Division II Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 Coaches Poll released on June 2. The 40-13 Wildcats won the NSIC regular season title for a fifth straight season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive year and sixth time in the last eight years.


Wayne State's Nick Schumacher was selected to a pair of All-American Teams Tuesday afternoon, earning First Team honors from Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association and Third Team All-American honors from Daktronics and voted on by sports information directors across the country. Schumacher posted a 13-2 record this season with a 2.36 ERA to earn 2008 NSIC Pitcher of the Year honors.
