"Met My Mate at WSC" Directory
Les '52 and Beverly '53 (Ashley) Hueser, Hubbard, Iowa:
I resided at Terrace Hall, and I moved to Morey Hall when
it opened. I mopped cafeteria floors everyday. Beverly lived
at Neihardt Hall and worked at the student cafeteria under
the management of Mrs. Miller.
I usually went home to Quimby to work on weekends, but this
weekend I stayed in Wayne. My roommate wanted me to double
date with them, but the girl I dated was gone for the weekend.
My roommate, Ken Beeghley, suggested I phone Beverly Ashley.
I did, but she was gone!
The next day, Sunday, Beverly was working in the college
cafeteria salad-dessert line. Her brown eyes just sparkled.
I liked what I saw, but we couldn't date until the following
Wednesday night. The downtown movie was about the life of
Hitler on this November night in 1951. It wasn't very romantic
but we hit it off, anyway. We were married on July 23, 1954
and have been married for 47 years. We have four children
and eight grandchildren.
