"Met My Mate at WSC" Directory
J.B. '90 and Tammy '91(Carlson) Tyson, Wayne, Neb.:
"J.B. and I met in a mid-summer's night dream
literally.
We auditioned for Doc Sedriks in June 1989 for the summer
theatre in the Willow Bowl. The play was "A Mid-Summer
Night's Dream," by William Shakespeare. I had been in
one other play at Wayne State College, and when I entered
Doc's office for the first meeting J.B. was there. I had seen
him around campus but I had never met him. He invited a couple
of other cast members to his apartment to watch movies that
night, and I got invited along with my now lifelong friend,
Lisa Soseman (Rowley). After that evening J.B. and I spent
the next month flirting shamelessly with one another at play
practices. But, we did not date until the show was over. Our
first date was to the cast party, on July 4th, held at the
TKE house. We became inseparable from then on, and did not
officially call it a relationship until late August. That
fall was J.B.'s senior year, and we worked on the Wayne Stater
together, we were engaged by the end of April, and wed a year
later on March 15, 1991. We chose March 15 because it was
spring break of my senior year, and it just happened to be
the Ides of March as related to Julius Caesar. It may sound
morbid, but I like themes, and it sort of related back to
our Shakespearean beginning. We have now been married for
ten years, and it has been a drama and a love story each day.
We have a six-year old daughter, Chloe, and a three-year old
son Jack, who seems destined to the stage though we try to
instill interests in science, math, and literature!"
