Adaline (LaBrune) and James '52 Rounds, Battle Creek,
Mich.:
After serving in World War II, Jim and several other Italians
from Ohio enrolled at Wayne State College. Jim came from a
busy, smoky steel industry area to a quiet, farm area out
in the middle of nowhere.
We were both in band and the first thing that Jim said to
me was "you should get rid of that old clarinet".
As you know it wasn't love at first sight.
Due to illness in my family, I had to leave college and help
in a family business. Jim graduated from Wayne State in 1951.
We were married May 30, 1953 in Iowa.
We have two sons and three grandchildren. Jim retired after
30 years as a band director in Iowa and Michigan. My last
job was Deputy Treasurer of Emmett Township. Remember I got
rid of my clarinet.
