"Met My Mate at WSC" Directory
Dennis '72 and Melodie (Butler) Robinson, Ottumwa, Iowa:
I was attending WSC in June of 1969 and was invited, with
some other friends, to the home of a girl in one of our classes,
Cheryl Haase. She introduced me to one of her roommates, Melodie
Butler, who had been attending WSC that spring and was working
during the summer. We hit it off right away, partly because
I impressed her with knowledge about the name she gave her
kitten, Pyewacket. This was the name of the witch's cat in
the movie (and book) "Bell, Book and Candle" starring
Kim Novak (she thought I read the book!). We went to the movies
and took long walks around Wayne. After going out for about
two weeks, I realized this was it for me and I proposed. She
accepted and we were married on July 12, 1969. Apparently,
we made the right decision, because we have been married now
for 32 years. We have one daughter, Angie, who is 26, and
we live in Ottumwa, Iowa, where I have been a Micro-Computer
Facilitator at Indian Hills Community College for the past
twelve years.
