"Met My Mate at WSC" Directory
Bruce and Deborra '85 (Lofton) Blay, Twin Falls, Idaho:
"We were first introduced during 1981 Freshman Orientation
weekend. We met for the second time the weekend after Labor
Day because most everyone left for the weekend. Bruce knew
other girls in my dorm and we played UNO. This became a weekly
pastime. One-time our other friends had also left for the
weekend so it was just the two of us. We became good friends.
Bruce escorted me to the Homecoming activities so by October
17, 1981 we were a couple. We dated through school and were
apart for the summers. Bruce transferred to MidAmerica College
of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, Indiana, during junior
year. He met me at the Willow-Bowl after my last final in
May 1984, and we were on our way to the 'Gag' (Student Union).
We walked along the north side of the Fine Arts Building.
He proposed to me on the grassy bank. So we had happy news
to report by the time we saw our friends. We married in Topeka
on August 17, 1985, our 46th month anniversary. We had spent
23 months apart. We have been married sixteen years and have
three children: Christopher, Patricia, and Erika."
