Three Wayne State College students won second place in the college division in the Ken Iverson Project. The contest was sponsored by Nucor Steel. Their sculpture sold at the Norfolk Arts Center auction for $5,000. Half of the funds from the auction were donated to the Department of Art and Design at Wayne State College, and the other half was awarded to the three students. The Ken Iverson Project is a contest created by the Community Outreach Team at Nucor Steel - Nebraska to showcase creativity and talent throughout the community using the company's steel products. The structures were displayed at the Norfolk Area Home Show in March where the attendees voted on their favorite. Awards and prizes were given to the winners in high school, college and adult categories.
