Wayne State Students, Alumni Make Phonathon a Success Published: 6-1-2010 10:35 am
2010 phonathon managers were D.J. Smith, Whitney VanBuren, Seth Cash and Makayla Beckman. Hahn, the former training school building, was the location for the annual phonathon. WSC students met nightly Monday through Thursday and on Sunday afternoons and evenings in January and February to call WSC alumni, friends and parents to update their addresses, inform them of the changes happening at Wayne State and to ask for financial support. The Wayne State Phonathon is designed to reach out on a personal and individual manner to all alumni and friends. The Phonathon has 20 student callers a night and two student managers. Through the Phonathon, students called alumni and friends to raise $190,000 for Wayne State College. Gifts made through the Wayne State Phonathon help to offset the reductions in state support, offer scholarships to deserving students, support faculty and staff grants and college initiatives and help where the need is greatest. All gifts to Wayne State College aid the college in continuing to strive for excellence and help to keep our programs and reputation strong.
Our student callers are committed to helping maintain and improve the WSC experience for students of today and tomorrow. These students value the quality education they receive at Wayne State College, and they realize the life-long advantages that it provides. For this reason, our Phonathon callers not only call to ask for support, but they also call to thank you for the great opportunities and experiences they are receiving at Wayne State College.
