Dr. Daryl Wilcox Recognized for Special Education Contributions

Published: 6-7-2012 9:25 am

Dr. Daryl Wilcox
Dr. Daryl Wilcox, Wayne State College professor in the School of Education and Counseling, was awarded the Nebraska Association of Special Education Supervisors (NASES) Distinguished Service Award at a conference, titled "The Breakthrough Coach and Communicating for Efficiency,'' by her former student, Stuart Clark of ESU #1, on April 20 at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln.

"It was an honor for me to be recognized by my former students, and the school administrators who have arranged for the WSC special education majors to experience first-hand instruction during their clinical experiences or student teaching,'' Wilcox said. "Please know that I did not earn this honor by myself. Most of all, it highlighted Wayne State College. The excellent professors at WSC, the public school personnel who dedicate their knowledge, ability and time to teach the pre-service educators are the persons who really prepare the WSC special educators.''

Wilcox has earned degrees at the University of Kansas, Pittsburg State University, University of Kansas and Baker University.

Her teaching interests include learning styles, early childhood and special education. Her research interests include mild and moderately handicapped students' needs, learning disabilities and styles of learning.
