1941
Dr. Archie and Margaret “Peg” McPherran observed their 65th wedding anniversary Aug. 27. They met in Virginia when Archie reported aboard an aircraft carrier and Peg was a Navy nurse. Prior to retirement, Archie served as vice chancellor at California State Community College. The couple resides in Sacramento, Calif.

Dr. Carolyn (Malin) Fowle is living in Lodi, Calif., with husband, Henry Zbarra. She has an active practice as a clinical psychologist with an office in Lodi and another in Sacramento. She serves the Sacramento Supreme Court (criminal) as a forensic psychologist.

1958
Don and Carol (Rankin '54) Bremer, Big Bear Lake, Calif., announce the birth of their first great-grandchild, John Mason Bremer. He was born April 15 to Steve and Jessica Bremer, Alta Loma, Calif.

1961
Angie (Dowling) Neuharth, and her husband, Lyle, hosted the 10th annual reunion of the ‘WSC Pile Hall Gals’ at their cabin at the Wisner Yacht Club. The group enjoyed a cream-can-dinner prepared by Lyle. They spent the afternoon socializing and sharing photos. Jean Doerr gave each of the guests miniature angels she crafted as a souvenir. 1972
Billy R. Butler, Omaha, was inducted into the Nebraska National Guard, Regional Training Institute Hall of Fame. Induction is reserved for those outstanding individuals who through their contributions and achievements, have brought great credit to the RTI and the National Guard. In his acceptance, MSG Butler noted that thanks should be given not only to those who have and are currently serving, but those who await at home for tours to be safely completed. He also asked that we remember all those MIAs, POWs and KIAs and mentioned two other Wayne State members: A.D. Benson and Steven Backhaus, both of whom died in Vietnam. Bill is employed by Omaha Public Schools at Morton Magnet Middle School teaching middle school mathematics. He is the father of two grown children, Chris and Amy.

1975 Dennis Simon resides in Rockwell City, Iowa, and teaches at Rabiner Treatment Center, Fort Dodge. He also owns and operates a small publishing and recording company. He released his second CD on the QP record label. He has a family rock band called Tequila Sunrise. Performing with his three sons and daughter, they play about 100-150 dates per year.

1984
James J. Larsen has been assigned to the construction of Yemen's first LNG Plant in Shabwa Province. Beginning in April through the end of October he was assigned to Paris to assist with the project’s closing activities. With the completion of this assignment, he will relocate to the Gorgon Project in Australia. Prior to his Australia move, Jim plans to spend time in Laramie, Wyo., with his wife, Susan (Blatchford ’88) and their children.

Lil (Winkel) Schroeder is a transportation security officer at Kansas City International Airport, Kansas City, Mo. She resides in Kansas City.

1992
Jim Casey joined Amazon.com as the Senior HR Manager for Technology. He will lead HR for the Infrastructure Division at Amazon and will play a key leadership role in the partnership with Amazon Web Services & Infrastructure Senior Leadership Team. Jim had spent the previous 12 years at the Microsoft Corporation in a number of HR Global leadership positions. After graduation from WSC, he began his career at Gateway Computers. Jim and his partner, Davide`, reside in Seattle, Wash.

Dr. Kurt Boeckenhauer and his wife, Tonya, announce the birth of son, Grant. They reside in Papillion where Kurt is a practicing chiropractor.

1994
Keri (Kamrath) Lazure and husband, Joe, reside in Omaha with their four children, Caleb (9), Aleah (6), Chloe (4) and Noah (2). Keri works as a physician assistant for Bellevue Family Practice. Keri retired as a captain after serving 20 years in the Army National Guard in January.

Stacy Shumake-Henn and her husband, Marty, reside in Elgin with their children Blake (5), Chloe (3) and Max Raymond (1). Stacy is an English teacher at Elgin Public Schools.

1996
Jerry Schuele and his wife, Larissa, announce the birth of son, Adam Joseph, on July 20. He is welcomed to their home in Central City by sister, Emma (5). Jerry is employed as a pharmacy technician at U-Save Pharmacy in Central City and Grand Island.

Douglas and Greta (Bottolfsen ’97) Kraemer announce the birth of Logan on July 14. He is welcomed to their home in Allen by Ashley (7) and Garrett (5).

1997
Barbara (Hashberger) Wylie has been promoted to assistant professor in the School of Education at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, Ind. She has been appointed as Interim Program Chair for the School of Education for the 2010-2011 academic year. Barbara was accepted into the doctoral program at Ball State University to study elementary education. She resides in Indianapolis.

Jason and Jessica (Eucker ’99) Bauer along with big sister Mya (5) welcomed Maddox Allen to their home in Omaha on July 22. Jason is a superintendent at Kiewit Construction. Jessica is employed with West Corporation as an employment coordinator.

Tami (Denker) Pedersen and her husband, Daniel, announce the birth of first child, Caleb James, on Sept. 14, 2009. They reside in Hastings.

2001
Tosha (Zubrod) Kumke and her husband, Paul, announce the birth of first child, Landon Ray on March 22. Tosha is an assistant coordinator at Boys Town-Iowa, Council Bluffs, Iowa. They reside in Omaha.

2003
Paula Christiansen owns and operates Creations by Paula from her home in Omaha. She creates wooden clocks, picture frames, ornaments, necklaces and earrings using a scroll saw. She also creates jewelry using glass and plastic beads. Paula uses the counted cross-stitch technique to make infant bibs and Christmas ornaments. The past couple of years she has entered items at the Nebraska State Fair with much success; she received 10 ribbons this year.

Rachel Meier and John Hammer were united in marriage May 28. Rachel earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an early childhood endorsement from Doane College this spring. Rachel teaches first-grade at Creighton Public Schools. The couple resides in Creighton.

Megan (Adamson) Froehlich and her husband, AJ, announce the birth of Leighton Mae on Feb. 20. She is welcomed to their home in Gretna by sister, Kenley.

Kara (Helgoth) Woehler (MSE’10) and her husband, Matt, announce the birth of Landon William on July 12. He is welcomed to their home in Wayne by siblings Karlee (10) and Brayden (3). Kara is employed at WSC as the Retention Specialist in Student Support Services.

Jon Allemang (MSE ’08) and his wife, Samantha, announce the birth of daughter, Alexis Grace, on July 11. Jon teaches 8th-grade Science at Westside Middle School, Omaha. They reside in Omaha.

Joe Everingham and Nicole Schaefer(’04) were united in marriage June 5. They reside in Omaha. Nicole is employed at The Partnership for Our Kids as a development director. Joe teaches and serves as athletic director in the Elkhorn Public Schools.

Jennifer (Beer) Brown announces the birth of daughter Callie Mae on July 28. Callie is welcomed to their Omaha home by brother Caden (2).

Corissa (Thompson) Church and her husband, Wesley, announce the birth of Shiloh Ella on May 21. She is welcomed to their home in Emerson by sister, Caitlyn (2). Corissa has taken a break from her work as a laboratory technician to be home with the girls.

Jeffrey R. Nelson and Michelle Waldecker (’08) met while students at WSC in 2003 and were united in marriage in 2010. The couple resides in Lincoln. Jeffrey works for the Nebraska Department of Corrections, Lincoln. Michelle is a preschool educator with Children’s Choice Learning Center, Lincoln.

Heather Headley graduated in May from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, with her Master's in Library Science.

Matthew Hurt and Mikayla Parr were united in marriage April 17. They reside in Kenesaw.

Tracy Sell and Robert Heiser were united in marriage April 24. Traci is an administrative systems programmer at WSC. Robby is working toward an elementary education degree from WSC. The couple resides in Wayne.

Nicholas Bartlett and Sarah Spittler ’08 were united in marriage May 22. They reside in Pittsburgh, Pa. Both are employed at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.

Dakota Dunes Wildcat Golf
More than 50 enthusiastic golfers began an afternoon of play with a 1 p.m. shotgun start Aug. 25 in Dakota Dunes, S.D. Thanks to Dakota Dunes Country Club for use of their splendid facilities and preparations for the buffet dinner at the conclusion of the day.
