2012 Service-Learning at Ike’s Lake
Wayne State College students worked with Wayne elementary students to demonstrate water quality at Izaak Walton League of America Lake (IKES), a small Lake north of Wayne on May 14 for one aspect of a year-long project in collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Education. Dr. Barbara Hayford and Lisa Nelson, Wayne State College Service-Learning Coordinator, worked on a grant awarded by the Nebraska Department of Education under the Learn and Serve America Grant. The purpose was to help young students see the value in science and math education and the connection between nature and learning objectives.
