Fall 2012 BAND DAY/HOMECOMING PARADE
The Band Day parade marches through downtown Wayne each fall. It usually coincides with Wayne State’s Homecoming parade. The 2012 parade was held Sept. 29. This year's parade included performances by numerous Junior and Senior High School bands from the area who participated in one of two ways. Bands may choose to compete against other bands in the same class and be adjudicated in the areas of marching, music and general effect; or simply participate for constructive comments. The winning band in each class receives a trophy plus a scholarship in the amount of $200 to be used by any student from that band who plays in the WSC band the following academic year. Participation is free of charge thanks to donations from Wayne State College, the Wayne Area Chamber of Commerce and The Wayne State College Foundation.
