2011 Earth Day
The WSC Earth Day celebration on April 21 included Environmental Education programming in the Wayne Community Schools provided by the WSC Biology Club; a cleanup of the Nature Trail on the WSC campus; a special show in the college planetarium; and a bike ride on the community Bike Trail. Events also included a presentation on groundwater in Nebraska by Groundwater Foundation President Jane Griffin in the Gardner Auditorium. Based in Lincoln, the Groundwater Foundation is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate people and inspire action to ensure sustainable, clean groundwater for future generations. The group presented Wayne State with an award recognizing the college’s efforts to conserve and preserve groundwater.
