Pre-Registration & Advising
Academic
Advisors work with students to plan classes to meet
general education and major/endorsement requirements.
Each fall and spring semester, a period of time is set
aside to plan for the upcoming semester. Prior to these
pre-registration advising sessions, students will accomplish
the following:
obtain
their personal class schedule and pre-registration
checklist
review
the advisement preparation check-list
review
the class schedule and get some ideas for classes
for the upcoming semester
prepare
a tentative schedule on the schedule planning form
(on the back of the checklist)
Pre-registration
advising can take place either in an Individual
Advising meeting between the student and their
advisor or in a group meeting where several students
get together at the same time to work on class schedules
with an advisor. During the advisement session, the
students will receive the following kinds of information:
explanation
of general education requirements
assistance
selecting classes for the upcoming semester
instructions
about how to complete registration
a
review of the student's advising record
a
schedule of career planning group meetings
answers
to specific advising questions
