What Is Academic Advising?

Academic advising is a process through which advisors assist students in developing life plans and career goals and in clarifying institutionalrequirements, policies, procedures, resources and educational options.

The goal of all academic advising is assisting students to complete their academic programs and graduate from Wayne State College.

What Can I Expect From My Academic Advisor?

To be interested in your academic success and adjustment to college
To be available for consultation and/or referral
To assist with values clarification
To furnish information on career planning
To provide explanation of requirements for majors and endorsements
To assist in monitoring your academic progress
