College Portrait - Voluntary System of Accountability

The Right Size

A campus that’s small enough to know you, but big enough to offer you all the opportunities you’d expect to find at a larger university. This is a place where your professors will call you by your first name, and when you walk across campus you’ll always see a familiar face.

Students

By the Numbers: 3,450 students. Students come from 26 states and 19 countries.

The Real Deal: What does it take to be a Wildcat? It’s pretty simple. If you like getting to know people (including your professors), want an opportunity to try new things (study abroad, anyone?) and are eager to find a career that perfectly suits you, Wayne State is probably the place for you. Going to college is about the journey. And at the end of their journey here, our students graduate with increased self-confidence as well as confidence in their ability to achieve, lead and succeed. (Really. We’ve got the research to back it up.)

Faculty

By the Numbers: 136 full-time faculty, with a 18:1 student-to-faculty ratio.

The Real Deal: Sure, our faculty are highly qualified (75% have their doctorate!), but they’re here to teach you, serve as your mentor, even grab a cup of coffee with you (check out Jitters in the library!). Their primary focus is on teaching, something you won’t find on other campuses.

Campus

By the Numbers: 22 buildings, including seven residence halls, on an attractive 128 acre campus.

The Real Deal: Don’t worry, you won’t get lost on our campus. You’ll be surprised at how easy it is to navigate between buildings. In fact, most students say they can get from their dorm room to class in about five minutes or less. Really! Check out the Campus Map.

The Community of Wayne

By the Numbers: Wayne’s population is approximately 5,500. Wayne is the county seat of Wayne County.

Located about 45 miles southwest of Sioux City, 105 miles northwest of Omaha and 120 miles north of Lincoln. Get directions to Wayne from anywhere.

The Real Deal: Wayne’s a great community. The campus is only a few blocks from downtown, where you’ll find restaurants and shopping. Plus, there are plenty of area businesses that love to hire Wayne State students for part-time jobs and internships. And, with Sioux City and Norfolk each about 45 minutes away, you’re not too far away from big-city conveniences.
